Barnaby Jones, a UK national, was appointed OCHA’s Executive Officer in February 2013.
As head of the Administrative Service Branch (ASB) in New York and Geneva, he is responsible for directing and overseeing the provision of OCHA administrative services in headquarters and the field. He also provides strategic advice to senior management on budgeting, finance, procurement, human resources, general administration and strategic ASB corporate operations.
Barnaby joins us from UNDP Nepal, where he served as the Deputy Country Director, responsible for operations. He held the same position in UNDP country offices in Vietnam and Pakistan between 2005 and 2012. He worked closely with OCHA during the 2005 South Asia earthquake response.
Before joining UNDP, Barnaby spent six years at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) in various administrative roles. He has also worked with several NGOs, including Oxfam GB and Concern Worldwide.
Barnaby holds a Master’s degree in Development Administration from the University of Birmingham in the UK and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personal Development.
