20 February 2014: Hostilities between the Government and opposition groups in South Sudan have forced tens of thousands of people to seek refuge in neighbouring countries, including Kenya. UN agencies expect that by the end of March 2014, 20,000 South Sudanese will have arrived at Kakuma camp in north-west Kenya.

11 July 2013: On 17 May 2013, Kenya’s Ministry of Health declared a public health emergency following an acute wild polio virus outbreak. The outbreak happened in the Dadaab refugee camps, where more than 424,000 people currently live.
