CERF gives $3 million in relief aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon

12 June 2012: As of April 2011, Lebanon witnessed the influx of some 6,000 Syrians into the Governorate of North Lebanon.

While a small number of the refugees returned after the initial fighting, many remained and their numbers increased as the crisis intensified.

Comoros 2012

CERF gives $2.5 million for flood-affected people in Comoros

14 May 2012: In March and April 2012, Comoros was hit by severe flooding associated with heavy rainfall throughout the territory. The floodwaters cut off access to affected communities and destroyed roads and other infrastructure making the delivery of humanitarian aid difficult.

Meningitis outbreak in Ethiopia supported with $2.9 million from the CERF

30 March 2012: The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) provided US$2.9 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) to reduce deaths and illness due to a meningitis outbreak in Ethiopia.

Republic of the Sudan 2012

CERF provides more than US$2.5 million in response to yellow fever outbreak in Darfur


26 November 2012: In October, yellow fever outbreaks were reported in seven localities in Central and South Darfur. An estimated 3.8 million people are at risk of infection.
