CERF allocates $390,012 for refugees in Guinea

October 2011: Some $390,012 has been made available from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in response to the refugee crisis in Guinea.  More than 1,000 refugees have arrived in the country, most of whom are children and women, fleeing the violence in Cote d’Ivoire.

CERF funds will be used for the registration and profiling of new arrivals to ensure that all persons, including the most vulnerable,  receive appropriate assistance and adequate protection.

Funds will also be used to invest in emergency shelters, provide potable water and emergency latrines and sanitary infrastructure.  Medical assistance for refugees will also be enhanced through the purchase of medical supplies and provision of training to local medical staff on emergency assistance and psychological support.
