CERF allocates $3.5 million for earthquake-affected populations in Turkey
14 November 2011: On 23 October a 7.2 magnitude earthquake shook Van Province in southeastern Turkey. The epicenter of the earthquake was the village of Tabanli in Ercis District . The death toll has risen to more than 600 people and over 4,000 injuries have been reported. The Ministry of Education announced that many schools in the area collapsed or had been seriously damaged with schooling interrupted for primary, secondary and university students.
