Paraguay 2014

In March 2014, torrential rains caused the Parana and Paraguay rivers to overflow and flood rural communities and urban areas of Paraguay. The departments of Asuncion and Alto Paraguay were hit the hardest.

More than 230,000 people were affected and close to 15,000 displaced families had to move into temporary, overcrowded shelters.

In response, CERF allocated a US$2.2 million rapid response grant to help humanitarian partners including the World Health Organization and the World Food Programme provided life-saving relief for thousands of people.
