Human Security Activities in 2011


5 December 2011: The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization held a Technical Discussion Meeting on Health and Human Security in Washington DC. The overall objective of the meeting was to discuss current global discussions on human security and to explore policy guidelines and methodological tools for applying the human security approach to health related policies and national plans. Among the presentations offered at the meeting,  Ms. Mehrnaz Mostafavi of the Human Security Unit-OCHA provided the participants with a step-by-step strategy for developing, implementing and evaluating human security programmes and projects. 14 - 16 November 2011: As a follow-up to General Assembly resolution 64/291 and the Secretary General's report on human security A/64/701, the Special Advisor to the Secertary-General on Human Security, Mr. Yukio Takasu, held informal consultations with Member States in New York.
8 and 9 November 2011: The Eleventh Meeting of the Advisory Board on Human Security took place in New York. 
17 October 2011: Five new members joined the ABHS - Ambassador Nabil Fahmy, Dr. Frene Ginwala, Ambassador Ramtane Lamamra, Dr. Vitit Muntarbhorn, and Mr.Yukio Takasu. To view the press release, click here.
26 - 29 September 2011: The sixth Human Security Regional Training Workshop was organized in Belgrade, Serbia, by the Human Security Unit, OCHA (HSU-OCHA) in collaboration with the United Nations Office of the Resident Coordinator in Serbia.
14 April 2011: Informal Thematic Debate on Human Security at the United Nations General Assembly, organized by the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
11 and 12 April 2011: The Tenth Meeting of the Advisory Board on Human Security took place in New York.
31 January 2011: The Inter-American Institute of Human Rights and UNDP Costa Rica launched a new website on Human Security in Latin America as part of the joint project “Promoting and developing the human security concept in Latin America”, funded by the UNTFHS.
