Chad: The regional toll of the Central African crisis
The crisis in CAR and its regional humanitarian fallout will be the focus of a High-Level Meeting in New York on Monday 23 June, at the end of the first day of the 2014 ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment.
Gaoui is 10 km outside the Chadian capital N'Djamena. It is home to more than 4,000 people who fled CAR. Most of the people here are of Chadian origin, but their families had lived in CAR for generations. The rainy season is due to start in the coming weeks, and it is likely that this low-lying site will flood.
