Iraq: Aid groups set to massively scale-up assistance [VIDEO]
An estimated 1.2 million people have fled their homes this year, as a result of violence that has gripped large swathes of northern Iraq.
Humanitarian aid groups have been responding since the outset. However, a $500 million grant from Saudi Arabia will allow the UN and its humanitarian partners to save thousands of lives by quickly delivering what’s most needed – water, food, shelter, medical supplies.
"This means the difference between life and death for hundreds of thousands of people," said John Ging, OCHA's Director of Operations.
