Abdoulaye Sawadogo

Abdoulaye Sawadogo was appointed OCHA's Head of Office the Central African Republic in November 2024. He brings more than 30 years of humanitarian coordination and management experience from complex crises as well in the development field.  Prior to this appointment, Sawadogo was OCHA's Head of Office in Haiti. He has also served as OCHA's Deputy Head of Office in the Democratic Republic Congo (DRC), the Regional Office for West and Central Africa in Dakar, Chad and the Central African Republic. He also led the OCHA DRC's Ebola Response Team between 2019 and 2023. Before joining the United Nations, Sawadogo worked with international non-governmental organizations such as Oxfam Netherlands. He holds a Master’s degree in Economic and Social Politics from Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Université de Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. A national of Burkina Faso, Sawadogo, is fluent in English, French and Dutch.
