The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is convening the annual Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) “High-level Pledging Event – A Fund for all, by all” on Monday, 9 December 2019, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Trusteeship Council at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The event is an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the Fund, announce pledges for 2020, and collectively ensure that CERF’s level of funding continues to increase towards the expanded funding target of $1 billion, as endorsed by the General Assembly. Registration for the High-level Pledging Event will close on Monday, 2 December 2019.
The event will be opened by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and will bring together senior representatives of UN Member States, observers of the General Assembly, UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, foundations and the private sector to express their commitments to the Fund. The event will also feature a question-and-answer session with Member States, UN agencies, civil society and private sector partners. A separate pledging segment will offer Member States and other stakeholders an opportunity to announce pledges for 2020 and express their support to CERF.
The event will be webcast live on UN Web TV.
