Today CERF hosted its High-Level pledging conference for 2017. Thirty-three donors pledged almost US$273 million to the Fund to support urgent aid whenever and wherever crises hit.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon opened the conference. “I am proud to have served as UN Secretary-General during much of CERF’s successful first decade,” he said. “A strong United Nations needs a strong CERF.”

The Central Emergency Response Fund, (CERF) is releasing a grant of $5 million to address the most life-saving needs of people affected by hurricane Matthew. Earlier this week, CERF also released a loan of US$8 million dollars to UNICEF to scale up response to the worsening cholera epidemic in Haiti.  

SECRETARY-GENERAL BAN-KI MOON HAS SUBMITTED HIS ANNUAL REPORT TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OUTLINING THE USE OF THE CERF IN 2015.

The report describes the activities of the Central Emergency Response Fund from 1 January to 31 December 2015 and concludes that “the Fund has continued to demonstrate its value in funding timely, targeted and reliable life-saving assistance to people in humanitarian crises.”
