Crispen Rukasha

Crispen Rukasha was appointed OCHA's Head of Office in Somalia in October 2023. Rukasha has more than 30 years of experience in humanitarian, recovery, development, and peace building work. Rukasha joined OCHA in December 2013 and served as Deputy Head of OCHA in Somalia, Nigeria and Yemen before becoming OCHA's Head of Office in Syria until 2023. Prior to joining OCHA, Rukasha worked with the United Nations Development Programme in Sudan and Somalia focusing on reintegration of internally displaced persons and durable solutions. Rukasha also worked with the United Nations Mission in Liberia. Before joining the UN, Rukasha worked with local authorities and non-governmental organizations in Zimbabwe. He holds a Master of Science degree in Regional and Urban Planning and an Honors degree in Geography from the University of Zimbabwe. A Zimbabwean national, Rukasha is fluent in English.
