Niger continues to face a complex and protracted humanitarian crisis, fueled by heightened security challenges, recurring climate shocks, growing economic pressures, and migratory movements from neighbouring countries. These shocks have led to significant needs that must be addressed urgently.

According to the humanitarian needs analysis, in 2025, 2.6 million people will require humanitarian assistance.

For 2025, the risk analysis highlights a deterioration in the internal and regional security situation, marked by an increase in armed attacks. New clashes are likely in the tri-border area (Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger) and in the border areas with Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin.

The effects of extreme weather events such as floods and periods of drought that could impact harvests and household incomes are likely to continue.

The UN and partners need US$603 million aim to reach 2.1 million of the most vulnerable people among the estimated 2.6 million people in humanitarian need in 2025.
