11. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Fakhri Abu Thiyab, Resident, East Jerusalem:
“This is my home. This is the home I was born in. Before 1967, it was small. I've lived, got married and had my children in it. Memories of my mother are in it. But the municipality demolished my home on 14 February 2024. After I repaired it, as I couldn't live on the street, buy or build a house outside the area, it was demolished on 5 November 2024.”

13. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Fakhri Abu Thiyab, Resident, East Jerusalem:
“We were 10 people living in this home: myself, my children and grandchildren. After the demolition, my children were displaced. My wife and I stayed in the caravan. Even the caravan we're living in is under threat. I think the municipality intends to demolish all of this neighbourhood. It has a plan to change it, build settlements, displace and expel us.”

15. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Fakhri Abu Thiyab, Resident, East Jerusalem:
“I was born here and lived here as a child. So, we've become without a past, without memories and even without a future due to Israel's illegal policy.”

“So, this is the reality for so many families in East Jerusalem. I’ve been hearing the story from the owners of this house – a house where they grew up, where they raised their children and grandchildren, where they hosted their friends – and then it’s gone, in just half an hour. And those memories buried under this rubble, but they tell me that they will stay, and that they may have lost their property, but they will not give up on their dignity and on their hope.”
