Sahel Dashboard - Humanitarian Overview (As of 3 March 2025)
In the Sahel, multidimensional, interconnected crises continue to deteriorate the humanitarian situation. The region is now home to 5.9 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 2.2 million refugees, representing increases of 6 per cent and 20 per cent, respectively, compared to December 2023.
The number of people affected by severe food insecurity (IPC phase 3+) and children suffering from severe acute malnutrition decreased by 9 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively, compared to 2023. However, the 2024 data for Burkina Faso are not available. Of the 20.9 million people targeted for assistance in 2024, 12.4 million were reached with $2.4 billion, representing 50 per cent of the funding required as of 3 March 2025.
