Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF) - First Standard Allocation, As of 29 August 2024
ALLOCATION STRATEGY
EHF launched a standard allocation of $30 million on 01 April 2024 to kickstart the response to prioritized humanitarian needs. The allocation aims to reduce malnutrition in drought- affected areas with limited or no partner presence. It complements the $17 million CERF allocation that provided support to the drought response in early 2024.
The allocation also supports the humanitarian scale up in East and Kelem Wellega zones in western Oromia where there were new displacements due to conflict and significant gaps identified in the response. The allocation adopts an area-based approach and is promoting an intersectoral response to save lives. It advances localization through funding NNGOs as directly as possible, and prioritizing consortia/partnerships that add value in terms of capacity strengthening.
Special consideration is given to supporting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), including children, in Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz and Oromia regions, and ensuring rapid response capacities in hard-to-reach areas.
