Introduction

The second Pacific Anticipatory Action (AA) Regional Workshop Advancing Anticipatory Action: The Pacific Way was held on the Coral Coast, Fiji from 15 – 16 April 2024. It brought together 124 participants (76 male/ 48 female) across the region, representing 16 Pacific Island Countries and regional partners to discuss how to better prepare for and act before disaster strikes. The regional workshop was part of a wider Early Warning, Early Action themed work and followed a series of related meetings convened the week before the disaster risk management and national hydrological and meteorological community the week prior. The meetings were sequenced as per below:

● 8 – 12 April: Pacific Disaster and Emergency Managers Meeting (convened by SPC)

● 10 – 12 April: Systematic Observation and Financing Facility meeting (SOFF) (convened by WMO)

● 15 – 16 April: Regional Anticipatory Action Workshop (convened by UN, PRP and IFRC)

● 17 April – Regional Collaboration for Inclusive Early Warning and Climate Services (UN, SPREP)
