Lebanon Humanitarian Fund (LHF) allocates $30 million to address urgent needs in conflict-affected areas [EN/AR]
Beirut, January 10, 2025 – The Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon, Imran Riza, has announced a $30 million allocation from the Lebanon Humanitarian Fund (LHF) to address urgent humanitarian needs stemming from the recent conflict and support displaced populations and communities returning to affected areas.
“Even during the height of the conflict, the Lebanon Humanitarian Fund and other pooled funds were among the first to respond, providing emergency assistance during an extraordinarily challenging time,” said Imran Riza.
Beyond the devastating human toll, the recent conflict has caused extensive destruction to civilian infrastructure, crippling basic services such as healthcare, water, and sanitation, and leaving countless communities in urgent need of assistance.
“This new allocation provides a vital lifeline, enabling support to both those returning to damaged infrastructure and those who remain displaced with timely and effective aid.”
This $30.7 million allocation will enable partners, including local NGOs and community-based organizations, to deliver targeted assistance in food security, shelter, nutrition, protection, healthcare, water and sanitation, and education. It will also prioritize localized, community-driven responses to ensure the most vulnerable populations are reached.
Note to editors:
The new funding builds on a $12 million allocation made in October 2024 to support the Flash Appeal and complements the Lebanon Response Plan (LRP). The Lebanon Humanitarian fund (LHF) is a country-based pooled fund led by the Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon and managed by OCHA. Since its inception in 2014, the LHF has received over US$ 250 million from donors to support the delivery of timely and effective humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable people in Lebanon regardless of their status. Strong monitoring systems are in place to ensure that assistance reaches the most vulnerable based on needs.
