According to the Ministry of Health (MoH), as of 7 April, Nampula has recorded 2,476 cumulative cholera cases since October 2024 resulting in the death of 38 patients to date. Zambézia has recorded 316 cumulative cholera cases resulting in the death of 12 patients to date. The MoH reported that in the previous 24h, 36 new cases were recorded across the two provinces. Cholera interventions continue to face obstacles due to community distrust, leading to acts of vandalism targeting state infrastructure. On 20 March, reports indicated that a mob vandalized a school in Topuito, Larde district, accusing the educational director of spreading cholera through students' textbooks. The following day a similar incident occurred in a school in the neighbouring Moma district, despite the district not having reported any cholera cases.
