OVERVIEW

Beginning in late June and lasting through mid-September 2025, Pakistan faced its worst monsoon flooding in four decades. Heavy and prolonged rains triggered riverine and flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, and Sindh, breaching major rivers and inundating vast areas. Nearly 4.9 million people were affected, with extensive damage to homes, schools, infrastructure, and farmlands. The disaster severely impacted livelihoods and access to essential services, particularly in Punjab’s floodplains. Humanitarian partners have scaled up life-saving assistance across key sectors, yet significant response and funding gaps persist, especially in early recovery and resilience efforts.
