This represents nearly 78 per cent of the 5.9 million people targeted through the 2024 Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP). Of those, 2.5 million were female, and 2.1 million were male.

Response achievements include about 3 million people receiving food assistance, livelihoods support, and cash transfers; over 1.7 million people reached with healthcare; approximately 1.6 million assisted with protection services; and about 870,000 people supported with access to safe water. About 1,282,585 children, and pregnant and breastfeeding women, were provided with emergency nutritional assistance.

An estimated 649,831 people received essential household items and emergency shelter.

About 30,000 metric tonnes of humanitarian cargo were transported, along with 64,799 UNHAS passengers. Some 909,829 people were reached through camp coordination and camp management services, and about 520,000 children received support with access to education in emergencies.

As of end of December, 282 humanitarian organizations contributed to these achievements, with 64 per cent being South Sudanese non-governmental organizations. At the time of publication, the HRP had secured US $1.21 billion, or 68% of the requested $1.8 billion, with the United States of America, the European Commission, and Germany being the top donors.
