Sudan: Displacement from Zamzam camp, North Darfur State - Flash Update No. 2 (As of 24 April 2025) [EN/AR]
HIGHLIGHTS
- Al Fasher and Zamzam experienced sustained artillery shelling, drone strikes, and ground assaults between 10 and 22 April.
- This resulted in hundreds of civilian deaths, including at least 12 humanitarian workers, and an unprecedented wave of displacement.
- Zamzam camp has been nearly emptied, with displaced people arriving in Al Fasher, Tawila, Tina and Mellit in North Darfur.
- People displaced from Zamzam and Al Fasher are also moving to Jabal Marrah and other areas in the larger Darfur region.
- The sudden and massive influx of displaced people into host communities and underserved towns is creating critical pressure on health services, water infrastructure, and local food systems.
- The UN and humanitarian partners are urgently calling on all those involved in the conflict to uphold International Humanitarian Law, ensure safe passage for civilians, and guarantee unimpeded humanitarian access.
