Syrian Arab Republic: Humanitarian Overview Issue No. 4 | January - February 2026 [EN/AR]
IN THIS ISSUE
- Escalation of hostilities triggers widespread displacement and service disruption, with clashes in Aleppo and north-east Syria displacing more than 119,000 people in early January and cutting access to water, electricity, and essential urban infrastructure in affected areas.
- Territorial and administrative shifts reshape governance across the north-east, following a January ceasefire and integration agreement that transferred control of key districts in Ar-Raqqa, Deir-ez-Zor, and southern Al-Hasakeh to Government institutions.
- Winter storms, flooding, and extreme cold expose vulnerabilities, damaging infrastructure, submerging shelters in 21 IDP sites, and causing multiple child deaths across Lattakia and Idleb, while affecting more than 160,000 displaced people in 127 sites.
- Explosive ordnance incidents caused the death of 86 civilians, including 26 children, and the injury of 124 others, including 43 children, during January and February, and continue to impede safe movement and humanitarian operations.
- Humanitarian organizations reached more than 200,000 people, on average, monthly during January and February across northern Syria.
