Safari Djumapili  was appointed OCHA's Head of Office in Mali in 2026.  With more than 30 years of experience in emergency response and international development, Djumapili joined OCHA in July 2003 and has occupied leadership and strategic positions with OCHA in the Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Indonesia, Niger, Philippines, Haiti, Sudan, South Sudan and OCHA’s Headquarter in Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to taking up his current role, Djumapili served as OCHA's Head of Office in Niger. Before he joined OCHA, Djumapili worked with the UN Refugee Agency and Lutheran World Federation in emergency response and post-crisis interventions to affected people in the Great Lakes Region. A national of Rwanda. Djumapili holds a Master’s degree in Humanitarian Studies from the University Lumière Lyon 2 in France. He is fluent in French, English, Swahili and with a working knowledge of Arabic.
