Syria: Fourth Brussels pledging event

The fourth Brussels conference on Supporting Syria and the Region – which is also the main high-level pledging event for the Syria crisis – will take place as a virtual, livestreamed event next Tuesday, 30 June.

The event is being hosted by the European Union (EU) and co-chaired by the United Nations.

The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, will co-chair the conference on behalf of the EU.

From the UN side, the conference is held under the auspices of the Secretary-General, who is represented by the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, accompanied by the Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen.

Other UN participants include the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi; UN Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator Achim Steiner; and UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Executive Director Henrietta Fore.

An online press conference is scheduled at 12.30 p.m. Brussels time. The pledges announcement will be around 17.45. A note on the breakdown of the pledges will be available afterward.
