Victoria Saiz-Omenaca was appointed Deputy Director in OCHA's Crisis Response Division in 2023. She leads the Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific Branch. She has worked with the UN since 2001, in a wide array of roles across the humanitarian, peace and development arenas. Saiz-Omenaca has held leadership positions in OCHA including Head of Office in Sudan; and in Indonesia; as well as Acting Head of Office in Venezuela. She was also OCHA's Senior Liaison to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Chief of the Strategic Planning, Evaluation and Guidance Section and acting Chief of the People and Culture Section. Prior to joining OCHA, Saiz-Omenaca  worked for the UN Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support, the Office for Internal Oversight Services, and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. Saiz-Omenaca holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Political Science and a Masters in Sociology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.  A national of Spain, Saiz-Omenaca is fluent in English and Spanish.
